We get contacted from time to time by users asking how ‘sharp bend’ alerts are generated.
The sharp bend database is based on the locations of official tight bend signage rather than corners that we might consider to be overly tight. As a result, you may have a situation where there is a sharp right hand bend followed by a sharp left hand bend, but as only the left hand bend is officially sign posted as a sharp bend we are only able to provide an alert to that particular one. In this scenario, as you approach the first right hand bend, you may get an alert to the following sharp left hand bend which can potentially create some confusion as it looks like the unit has alerted to the first bend in the wrong direction.
